Holland America expands lodge
McKinley Chalet Resort opens its new “Base Camp” development this season.
Base Camp serves as a new gathering area to relax, shop and dine. The largest building is a grand, two-story, 7,800-foot restaurant.
At the center of Base Camp is an amphitheater with a covered performance stage for guests to enjoy a variety of local shows. Base Camp also features fire circles, outdoor seating and retail shows.
The Holland America resort is situated in the heart of the Denali Canyon on the banks of the Nenana River, less than 2 miles from the entrance to Denali National Park.
The cruise industry has made a significant capital investment in property and facilities throughout the state, including hotels/lodges, rail cars, motor coaches, offices and maintenance facilities, with continued investment each year in infrastructure improvements.
